Our Program Chairman works hard for you to provide
an interesting program for each meeting which may include
one of the following:
- Knowledgeable speakers who may discuss bonsai styling, techniques,
tools, fertilizing, pest control, display, etc. We try to have
bonsai masters as often as possible.
- A demonstration on repotting, pruning, or displaying bonsai.
- Display tables where members bring their own tree(s) to give
and obtain advice or discuss special problems they may have encountered.
- A critique where we can learn what is right or wrong with the
styling of our trees and how to correct it.
- Slides or movies of a member’s trip to a convention or
dig that we couldn’t make, or of a member’s trip to
a foreign country that would, of course, include bonsai.
Suggestions are always welcome for programs. If there is a topic
about which you would like to see a program – let us know
and we will try to arrange it.

This is one of the most important reasons for membership
in a bonsai club. During the year, the club invites visiting
bonsai masters to hold special workshops. These workshops
are usually held at a convenient location and the class is
kept to a minimum of 8–10 students. Only club members
are allowed to attend these workshops. Deposits for available
spaces are taken ahead of time. You should never be shy about
taking workshop classes. This is one of the best ways to learn
new techniques, as each visiting master has a specialty in
the artform.

The club library has an extensive selection of bonsai books
which will help beginners as well as enhance the knowledge of its
advanced enthusiasts. Books may be signed out to any member on a
monthly basis. Books must be returned by the next meeting. Donations
of any used or back issues of books are always appreciated. As a
club member, you will automatically receive the quarterly publication
of Florida Bonsai Magazine.
